"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Are You Effective"

This week, I was listening to Bishop TD Jakes talking about being effective in whatever you do. His sermon reminded me of one of my favorite parables (Matthew 25:14-30) in the bible where a man gives each one of his servants talent(s) - you have to read the story to get a better understanding. As I continued to listen, I thought about how some of us, often go after positions that we think will make us look great, feel important, or fill a void of inadequacy. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with striving for the best. But in our striving, we should ask ourselves, what am I striving for this position/status for, and whom am I going to effect, once I get it. Because the truth of the matter is, unless we are influencing, effecting, and changing the lives of others in a productive way, all we have is position/status. And what's the point of having power if it is ineffective. So, as we use this talent, this gift, this position, whether it be a teacher, an administrator, a preacher, a poet, whatever, that God has so graciously given to us, we should ask ourselves, who are we really trying to effect. Remember, we were created by the Father to help others, and can't no position/status take the place of that. Without us being in it, it's only a position; we make it, it doesn't make us. Sisters, and I'm extending it to the brothers as well, leave your mark today, by the power of effectiveness. Peace and love.....
