"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Embracing The Change In You"

Happy “Self-Love” Tuesday – Hey ladies, how are you today. I pray everyone had a restful night last night, and, if you did not get a chance to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather on yesterday, that you take the opportunity today, to do so. This morning as I was preparing for work, I thought about what to say/post today, and it is this – embrace it. Embrace what, you might ask? Embrace the changes that you see within yourself, and around you. I shared with you on Sunday, that it was my birthday; I turned 44 years young. Now as much as I hate to admit this, with age, comes some changes (lol). The things you used to do, you can’t do them quite the same. For example, staying up late the night before and still having the energy to pop up early in the morning, to go to work – that’s a “no-no” now; just go on to bed, like you got some sense. Or how about this one, ripping and running all week, and then on Friday, trying to hang out with your girlfriends all weekend long, when you know your body is telling you, chile please”. The next thing you notice, is that you don’t look the same way you used to – that cute little figure you use to have before the children came, isn’t as little anymore; the skin that used to be tight and firm, is now starting to lose it’s elasticity, and is wrinkling up on you, even though you are using that expensive night cream that the consultant at the beauty counter told you to buy to help with that. And how about that long and thick hair that you used to have, all of sudden now, it’s starting to thin and gray, but the only reason why people can’t see it, is because you constantly keep it colored. And that’s alright too – do you sis. So the question remains, what do you do with these changes, that you see taking place, that you have no control over? Well, you embrace them? Embracing can be a beautiful thing if you choose to let it. When you embrace a change within yourself, you are saying, that I accept who I have become, or who I am becoming. When you embrace your changes, you are making a statement, that it’s okay that my skin is wrinkling; it’s showing a sign of maturity, or if your hair is graying; it’s showing that you possess a little bit of wisdom. When you embrace yourself, you are telling the world, that I love me just the way I am, and that you don’t need their opinions to validate you. So from now on sisters, when you look into that mirror and start noticing certain changes about you taking place right before your very eyes; don’t fret. Instead, just go with the flow, and embrace it. Love yourself real good today, and be the best you that you can be. Peace & Love…
