"Flip the Script Sis"
Happy Sunday - This morning during my meditation, I heard these words "cast a stone." In the bible, the story of the woman who was caught in the act of adultery (John 8:3-11..read it when you get a chance) was brought to Jesus by the scribes and the Pharisees. In this story, they wanted to condemn her, but also use her situation, as a means to trap Jesus to put in Him jail, predicated upon response. The thing that I loved about this whole scene, was this: when they (the scribes and Pharisee) picked up the stones to stone this woman, because according to their law, that was her punishment for her actions, Jesus flipped the script on them. As He studied their hearts and motives, He said these words, "if any of you is without sin, then cast the stone first." One by one, they dropped the stones, and began to walk away. And you know why they dropped those stones and started walking away, because when they begin to search their own hearts, they knew they had no right to condemn anyone. As I continued to meditate on this story, I got to thinking; it amazes me how people are so quick to judge, and to point out one's imperfections and mistakes, when they themselves, have their own skeletons hidden in the back of the closet. But what I've learned about those kind of people, is this; just because no one cannot see what they are doing in the dark, dosen't mean it's not happening, it just means that it has been covered up real good. In all of our lives, we have done some things that we are not proud, and/or ashamed of, to the point, we want to keep it buried somewhere. But rest assure, as deep as we try to bury it, we will always have those few who take pride in digging up our past. Those are the ones, who I like to compare to, as the people described in the above mentioned story. People like that, lack compassion, have no life, and are miserable. The only time when they are happy, is when they are meddling in someone else's affairs. But here is what you do, the next time you run into those type of folk, "flip the script on them." When they say to you those famous words, "I remember when you used to, or, I remember when you did," come back at them with this, "and what have you done before," and see what their story is. If they answer, " at least I haven't done that", say back to them, "well, you have done something," and walk away. So what's the moral of this thought today, you ask? It is this, no one, from your next door neighbor, to someone in a third world country, is infallible. Therefore, if the Lord, who knows everything about us, even the parts that we wish He didn't, doesn't condemn us, then don't let anyone else do it. Remember, He has come to set you free. Hold your head up sis, and live free within yourself, and of people's condeming spirits. Peace & Love Always....
