"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Exercise - Work It Out"

Happy Wednesday – Today is considered hump day; in two more days, the weekend will begin. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready. As the warm weather continues to prevail, I got to thinking, now is the time to exercise. I can see some of you now saying, “do what.” Yes, I said it, EXERCISE. Working out for some of us is the hardest thing to do; we know we need it, we know it’s good for us, but for some reason, it seems like an unobtainable task or goal. It falls on the same line, as eating the right kinds of food to help maintain a healthier you; we know you should monitor what we eat, especially if you are facing some health risks, but some how or another, we go straight to the foods that mean us no good – mine is sweets and carbs (lol..) Now I don’t know how much I can say about the eating right part, as I’m still battling with that issue myself, except to say, eat more fruit and vegetables. But there is something that I can bring to your attention about exercise. I’m starting to notice, that it’s not as boring, as it used to be. So many different forms of exercise are available now to help motivate us to become more fit and to have fun while doing it; we have Zumba, which is some form of Latin movements, we have pole and chair dancing classes (oooh sisters, don’t hurt nobody after you’ve learned those moves), we have Yoga, Pilates, and even dancing (Hip Hop, Salsa, Rumba, etc.); I’m considering Salsa. (Oh Lord). This weekend, time will spring forward, giving us longer days, more sunshine, and plenty of warm weather. How will you utilize this time to get that good workout on? Will you attend a gym, ride a bike, get out there and walk or jog around a track, or, will you just walk around the neighborhood. Perhaps, you might consider trying something new altogether, like taking some of the classes that are listed above. But whatever you do, as Nike says, “Just Do It.” So grab that IPod, that friend, pet, anything or anyone that motivates you, to get on out there, and work it out. Have a great today. Peace & Love
