"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Stepping Out..."

Happy Wednesday Ladies - Two more days before the weekend. I am so looking forward to a quiet weekend (now rather it's quiet or not...that remains to be seen; but I'm still looking for it...lol!!). All this week, the words comfort zone have been coming up in my spirit, when I look on Twitter, if I hear someone speaking, etc. So I figured, the Lord must be trying to tell me something. Therefore, I thought I would share it with you too. Who knows, it might be for you.

For most of us, we love staying in a zone/area that is familiar. However, when it comes to stepping outside of that realm; it has a tendacy to ruffle our feathers. Now I'll admit, no one is quick to move from a comfortable spot or surrounding. For me, being in a comfortable spot, is like laying in that position in bed under all of your covers, warm and toasty when its cold outside. The mere thought of getting up from it to go to the bathroom in the middle of night drives you crazy. I mean, we know we have to go, and we know we need to hop up in order to get the relief. But instead, what we will do, is rock back and forth, and twist and turn, until we can't take it any more, or worst... I'll let your imagination run with that one...

Where am I going with this, you may ask; here. There are so many dreams and aspirations that we want to accomplish, but will never have the opportunity to accomplish them, because we are afraid to step out of our comfort zones. And how do I know this - I'm experiencing it now. Sometimes in order to achieve certain things, you have to be willing to change some things about how you think, how you operate, who you hang with, and how you see yourself. Is this always easy? Heck no! This can be a difficult thing; especially if we are creatures of habit. But you can't get different results, doing the same thing. Every day, you have to make a conscious decision to step out/change that zone/habit.

I remember when I went to school for hair...talking about stepping out of my comfort zone; (left my fulltime job, had a child in college, a single momma, sole-bread winner of the house, car payment, car insurance, rent, gas, electric; you name it, I had it) but I knew what I wanted to do. And so here I am today; a licensed cosmetologist.

Ladies/Sisters, I get it; no one likes to be in an uncomfortable position, but when it comes to you wanting to do something different; your're going to have to change your stature. You're going to have to tell yourself every day; I can do this. You're going to have to surround yourself with people who are in the same situation as you.

Whether we want to admit it or not; every now and then, a little uncomfortability is what we need. If some of us hadn't experienced it, we may not be as far as we are today. So my beautiful sisters, STEP OUT OF THAT COMFORT ZONE - You have work to do.

Have a great rest of the evening.

Peace & Love...
