"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Christmas: The Feeling It Brings"

- Happy Saturday Beautiful Ones - It's Christmas time y'all! What is it about the holidays that brings out the kindness and generosity in people? Is it the gathering of family, the excitement of decorating, or just the sheer joy of giving to your fellow man or woman. Whatever the reason, peoples' attitudes change around this time of year. People who normally don't speak, begin speaking, families that are spread throughout the states, begin making plans to come home, and grandparents get excited, because they get to see grandchildren (from the oldest down to the newborn). Homes are filled with the aromas of apple-cinnamon, the scent of pine trees, and baked goods (cookies, cakes, pies, etc...translation - yummy). Mistletoe is hung over doors so that you can give kisses to different ones as the come to visit. And for some us, we use mistletoe as a way to steal a kiss from the ones that we secretly have crushes on. Holiday music filters throughout Living/Dining Rooms, department stores, radios waves, restuarants, and businesses of every kind. Then there are the Christmas parties that your place of employment gives; I especially love those, because I get to see another side of people.

Hmmm, it's just something about this holiday that makes us feel warm, giving, and loving. Besides the birth of my children, it's the most beautifulest thing I've ever experienced. It makes me wanna sing all kinds of carols; hymns; and songs that make the spirit within me, happy. Again, what is about this season?

However; although I love what this season represents, please know, that I am not oblivious to the realities of what many may experience around this time. For some, this a difficult time of the year--especially if you have lost your love ones either this year or in times past. This time of year, is also a time where suicide is at an all time high; people feel like they have no hope and no one who cares. And let us not forget, how the economy this year has affected so many people (loss of jobs, homes, etc) - that's why all kinds of humanitarian drives are going on - there are a lot of people in need.

So as I sit and meditate on what Christmas means to me (as we all have different meanings), I'm curious as to what it means to you? I leave you with one of my favorite scriptures concerning Christ (mas):
"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace"...Is 9:6

Peace & Love...
