"Welcome Beautiful Ones"
DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.
Peace and Love....

"Take a Moment for You"
It's Self-Love Tuesday - Part of Self-Love is learning what makes you happy. As women, mothers, sisters, and wives, we put everyone in front of us. We are so used to caring for others, that we forget what our own aspirations and desires are. We do what makes everyone else happy first. But sometimes sisters, you just have to break free of that thinking, and say to yourself, "hey, I want to do something for me, for a change." And trust me "you" will have to do it, because no one else will do it for you. No one knows your heart's desire better than you. Let me share this with you: At the age of 40, I decided to do a career change - I went to school to become a licensed cosmetologist. I left my fulltime job as Administrative Assistant, to pursue something that "I" loved. I was a single parent, I had a son in college, and a son in middle school. When I shared with some, my dream, they looked at me like I was crazy. I survived off of a child support check, a part-time job at the Board of Education Evening High School, and when school ended at the Evening High School, I took another part-time job at Red Lobster, only to have to survive off of tips there. Beauty school was for a full year, and in the midst of me there, the school burnt down, which delayed my graduation for about two more months than the expected time. While that was going on, I was falling behind in my bills - shut off notices were coming from every direction, but here's the kicker, the Lord never allowed for anything to be shut off. What are saying, you ask? I'm saying, love yourself enough to forget about the opinions of what people think, when it comes to making yourself happy. Now I'm not saying do something that is foolish and immoral, I'm just saying, start that project that has been turning over in your spirit - you know what it is. Will it be easy, no. Will you have stressful moments, yes. But isn't that how it goes, when you want to pursue what benefits you, and the lives of others that you will touch. So, here I am three years later - a licensed cosmetologist. Sisters, invest in your happiness - take a moment for you. When you do this, I guarantee, "you" will feel so much better. Your confidence, your self worth, and your spirit will soar. And years later, you will look back and say, "I" did what made me happy for once. Be Encouraged Beautiful Ones....
