"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Myth vs. Reality"

Stroke Awareness Week

Ladies, sound the alarm, strike up the band, jump up and down,...because it's FRIDAY!!!!!! We made it to another week end. I pray you all had a great day today in this beautiful weather. I couldn't wait to get home, so that I could watch in peace, some of my shows that I had DVR'd during the week. But before I could relax really good, I wanted to share this quick tidbit with you: All week we have been talking about stroke awareness, starting on Monday with the leading causes, Tuesday, the two common strokes (although there are more), Wednesday, moving our bodies; the importance of exercise and healthy eating, last night, recognizing the signs, and tonight, we will talk about the myths and realities of strokes. Please see the following:

  • Myth - Strokes are not preventable
  • Reality - up to 80% of strokes are preventable
  • Myth - Strokes cannot be treated
  • Reality - strokes require emergency treatment
  • Myth - Strokes only strike the elderly
  • Reality - anyone can have a stroke
  • Myth - Strokes happen in the heart
  • Reality - a stroke is a "brain attack"
  • Myth - Stroke recoveries end after six months
  • Reality - stroke recoveries can last a lifetime

Again, this information that I share, that I have researched, is strictly for our health benefit; this is not my opinion. However, working in the healthcare field, allows me the opportunity to make us all aware of how important our health is. I hope you all have a great night tonight, doing what makes your heart happy. Although I have started my Fitness Class (I survived today), as a treat to myself, I'm going to curl up on the couch with a bowl of Butter Pecan ice cream. Shhh..., don't tell anyone. Peace & Love....
