"Welcome Beautiful Ones"

DGWOS is not a page where we bash, hate, use foul language, or tear down one's character through jealousy and envy. It is a page designed to inspire, to celebrate, to encourage and to promote self-love. This page wants to catapult you into a stronger and better you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the month, seasoned "Women of Substance" will share their experiences and thoughts to remind you that you are the diamond that God has intended for you to be. Please note: we are not psychiatrists or psychologists, nor do we profess to be perfect; but what we are, are women, mothers and grandmothers, who have been through the trials and errors of life and now want to help guide you through the same, if you choose to accept our views as you travel on this same wonderful journey called life. As a follower we only have two requests: 1) you share this blog with others and 2) strive every day to be the best you, you can be.
Ladies, let this blog be the reflection of what true, exquisite diamonds look like.

Peace and Love....

"Happy Valentine's Day"

It seems appropriate that February is the month dedicated to heart health with Valentine's Day right in the middle of the month. I am writing from my heart directly to YOU. Why? Because you have more power than you recognize. Women drive healthcare. It is you who sees that the children get the vaccines that will protect them from serious illness. It is you who reminds her Mom to get her mammogram or to take her blood pressure medicine. It is you who arranges for your partner to get healthcare. Now I am going to ask a favor of you: Take the time to take care of YOU. Where will every one else be without you in their lives? Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. Twice as many women as men die from heart disease. What can you do? The bigger question is: What ARE you doing? Take a minute. Just sixty seconds. Feel your heart beating in your chest. Now take a minute to ask yourself how you are giving yourself the best shot at a long and healthy future. It's time to make a choice. Keep doing what you have always done and become just another statistic, or take charge and move those statistics in the right direction. Eat a well balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Keep your daily fat intake under 30 Gms. Move it! Exercise as simple as walking 30 minutes twice a day can significantly improve your heart health. Take the time for you. It only takes a few minutes to add healthy years to your life.
